Alphabet Inc 23日证实，为了应对加拿大政府“线上新闻法”（Online News Act），Google正就阻止部分加拿大用户取得新闻内容测试。
路透社报道，加拿大总理杜鲁道（Justin Trudeau）自由党政府去年4月推出“线上新闻法”，下议院代号为C-18，迫使Meta旗下Facebook和Google等平台就商业交易谈判，并为新闻内容付费给新闻出版商。
Google发言人给路透社的声明表示：“我们正简短测试C-18法案对产品的潜在影响，目前只会影响极少加拿大用户。我们每年都会进行数千次测试，以评估任何搜索结果的潜在变化。”
Google证实，这次限时测试是随机选择，影响加拿大不到4%用户，“不同程度上限制加拿大国内和国际新闻的可见度”。
加拿大文化遗产部长罗德里格斯（Pablo Rodriguez）发言人表示，加拿大人不会畏缩，并称Google如法炮制Meta做法令人失望。
发言人说：“加拿大人需要当地方和全国层级获得高品质且基于事实的新闻，这就是我们推出线上新闻法的原因。科技巨头必须对加拿大人更透明和负责。”
