当Google于5月宣布Bard人工智能聊天机器人向180个国家提供服务时，其中并不包括任何欧盟国家。Google原定在本周将Bard于欧盟推出，但刚刚宣布押后。有外国媒体引述爱尔兰数据保护委员会，指Google尚未就着如何遵守欧盟的数据保护规则阐述其计划。
Google发言人表示在过去数星期曾经与爱尔兰数据保护委员会磋商，也分享了相关的文件，但未有进一步解释押后在欧盟提供Bard服务的原因。发言人表示Google有意在包括欧盟等地推进Bard服务，为此会与专家、监管机构和政策制定者接触后，负责任地推出服务，过程中Google一直与隐私监管机构保持联系，解决他们的问题并听取意见。
爱尔兰数据保护委员会负责执行欧盟的通用数据保护条例，被指违反条例的企业，往往会受到非常严重的罚款。这次Google延后Bard于欧盟的推出，并未提及期限，这并非首次有人工智能聊天机器人于欧盟推出服务受阻，先前OpenAI的ChatGPT也被指未能满足意大利的法规，曾经被短暂禁止提供服务。
