According to foreign media reports, in 2006, a woman and her 6 colleagues organized a joint purchase to win a lottery prize of 36 million US dollars (about 260 million yuan), but the woman did not get the share she deserved bonus. For this reason, she took these colleagues who participated in the syndicated lottery to court and launched a lengthy legal proceeding.

The woman, Betty Domingo, had been buying lottery tickets for 2 years before participating in the syndicate in April 2006. According to the US Sun report, court documents show that Domingo and her colleague Brenda Mitchell (Brenda Mitchell) and five other female colleagues often organize joint lottery purchases. Whether she wins the lottery or not, Domingo will return the money to her colleagues.

At the end of March 2006, Mitchell received an email from a colleague asking if she was interested in participating in the joint purchase, and agreed that if she wanted to participate in the joint purchase, she would meet at a restaurant and choose her favorite for participating in the joint purchase in April. However, according to the defendant's claim that Domingo did not attend the meeting. It is reported that each member of the joint buying group participated in the joint buying and spent $17 each. Mitchell said that since he did not have enough money for Domingo to participate in the syndicate, he could only divide the $36 million jackpot into 6 shares. After Domingo learned that he won the grand prize on April 29, he immediately sued the colleagues who participated in the syndicate to court and demanded a $2.9 million bonus.

This lawsuit has been going on for many years, and it can be said that six colleagues including Betty Domingo, who is prosecuting, and Brenda Mitchell as the defendant, are physically and mentally exhausted. In the end, Betty Domingo and her colleagues reached a settlement, although The settlement agreement between the two parties is unknown to outsiders, but the participants said they were "satisfied" with the result.

Some experts suggest that partners who buy lottery tickets should sign a written agreement as much as possible to avoid unfounded disputes in the future. At the same time, according to the provisions of the Civil Law, the signing of the joint purchase agreement should be carried out on the premise of equality, consultation and voluntariness of both parties. Once signed, it has legal effect, and any party who violates the contract shall bear the responsibility according to the agreement.
