Second Oldest Las Vegas Casino To Be Knocked Down

Las Vegas very rarely stands still and especially not on the famed Strip and so the second oldest casino there which was built in 1957 faces the dreaded wrecking ball. Bally’s Tropicana casino are to demolish the Tropicana casino to make way for a new Oakland Athletes stadium.

The stadium will take up some nine acres of the 35 acre site which will have a new casino to attract some of the 35,000 fans expected to go to home games. Bally’s decided that it was more financially viable to knock down the old Tropicana rather than update it and with the planned new stadium which Bally’s will own will drive more income.

There were also fears that the Caesars owned Flamingo could go the same way at the Tropicana, however it has been revealed that the casino operator is actually going to remodel the casino and not tear it down. Part of that remodelling means that another casino next door owned by Caesars the Casino Royale will be torn down to be part of the remodelling of its neighbour.

The Casino Royale has looked dated for some years now and has seen dwindling customer numbers and the casino only manages to keep running is its promotion of free $25 with every customer that registers with its loyalty programme.
