The hearing will take place next month.

US.- Downs Racing, the operator of Mohegan Pennsylvania, will get a public hearing on the renewal of its Category 1 Slot Machine Operator licence next month. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has announced that the meeting will take place on September 21. 

Citizens, public officials and community groups can speak or submit written testimony to the meeting, which will be live-streamed on the regulator’s website. The deadline for registration to speak or submit testimony is noon on September 18. The hearing will begin at 10.30am at Plains Township Fox Hill Firehouse No.2, 50 2nd Street, Plains Township.

The renewal involves a two-step process. The record of the hearing before the director of the Board’s Office of Hearings and Appeals together with the director’s report will be transmitted to the PGCB. After that, a separate public hearing will be held in Harrisburg. There, representatives of the casino licensee will offer evidence and oral arguments and board members can ask additional questions.

The burden is on the renewal applicant to demonstrate its eligibility and suitability for renewal. It must demonstrate good character, honesty and integrity; compliance with its statement of conditions; evidence on tax revenue generated and jobs created; success in implementing its diversity plan and involvement in the surrounding communities. If successful, the licence will be renewed for five years.
