The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced the Macau gambling figures showing a gross gaming revenue (GGR) grew by 3.3% compared to the previous month at MOP17.2 billion ($2.1 billion).

August proved to be the best month for revenues in 43 consecutive month, showing that the region is recovering well from the pandemic as the revenue recorded is the best since January 2020.

Indeed looking at the yearly comparison August 2023 was up a huge 685% compared to last August as Macau struggled with the after effects of the COVID pandemic.

Now eight months into the year Macau’s total GGR stands at MOP114 billion ($14.1 billion), representing a massive 295% from the same period last year, however there is some way to go to catch the pre-pandemic revenues as it is on 39% of the figures recorded in 2019.
