After a 10-day shutdown of many of MGM Resorts computer systems across their estate in the US the casino giant has announced they have now restored all services and are now fully operational once more.

MGM suffered attacks that closed down their hotel reservations systems, slot machine software and credit card handling ability.

It was estimated that MGM was losing around $8 million a day in lost revenues because of the attack, however on a social media platform the company said, “We are pleased that all of our hotels and casinos are operating normally.”

The attack started on the 10 September and also Caesars Entertainment were also hit by hackers at the same time, although not officially confirmed it is understood Caesars paid $15 million of a ransom demand of $30 million.

On both attacks the companies have said that although they both have now gained back control of their systems they cannot guarantee that sensitive information on driver licenses, social security numbers and other potential personal information had not been stolen.

MGM did not mention any payment to the hackers like Caesars but rumours around the company believe MGM may have had to pay a ransom to gain control of their systems like Caesars did.
