Ontario’s Sports Betting Revenues Fall In Q2 Results

Ontario’s government agency the iGaming Ontario released the second quarter results for the online gambling industry on Wednesday showing wagers of $14.2 billion from July1 to September 30.

In the first quarter the number stood at $14 billion, however revenues fell slightly in Q1 stood at $545 million compared to Q2 at $540 million.

Total handle thou was up compared to the same period last year by 132% and revenues the same by 105% giving operators hope that the full year will show increased results.

iGaming Ontario said that the figures come from the licensed 46 operators in the jurisdiction running 71 gaming sites. Active player accounts in Q2 stood at 943,000 up compared to 920,000 in the previous quarter. But the average spend per head was down from $195 in Q1 to $191 in Q2.

Looking at sports betting including eSports wagers for the quarter stood at$1.9 billion, which is 13% of all bets placed. Handle from sports betting is almost the exact same as Q1 at $2 billion but revenues dipped from $138 million to $118 million in the current quarter.
