The non-profit litigator famous for his cases against the tobacco industry filed a lawsuit against the Massachusetts Gaming Commission on Tuesday.

Filed in Suffolk Superior Court, the lawsuit alleges that the regulator systematically failed to collect and distribute critical gambling behavioral data mandated by law over a decade ago.

The Public Health Advocacy Institute is seeking a mandamus order compelling the Commission to comply with Section 97 of the 2011 Expanded Gaming Act, which requires casinos to provide anonymized customer tracking data to researchers.
