LIV Golf Betting Markets Offered In More States For 2024 Season
LIV Golf’s 2024 season started Friday, and the upstart golf league includes several prominent new faces, most notably two-time major champion Jon Rahm. The league will also be more widely available for bettors this season compared to when its first event occurred in the summer of 2022.
In that year, ESPN reported that Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington were the first batch of states to allow sports betting operators to offer odds on LIV events. A BetMGM spokesperson told Sports Handle Friday that it is permitted to offer LIV Golf odds in 16 U.S. states, as well as Puerto Rico, Ontario, and Washington, D.C.
All told, the states that now allow betting apps to offer LIV Golf odds are:
A BetMGM spokesperson told Sports Handle that requests to offer LIV betting in Pennsylvania and Indiana are pending. DraftKings and FanDuel are among the other operators that offered pre-tournament LIV Golf odds on this week’s season-opening event.
Tennessee declined initial operator requests to allow LIV Golf betting in 2022, but is among the states to reverse course. While betting on LIV Golf has yet to make a noticeable impact for operators, the league seems to be gaining credibility with recent roster additions, although it remains to be seen if increased star power will lead to a noticeable increase in betting interest.
Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, and South Dakota are among states with legal wagering that still don’t allow LIV Golf betting.
