For the first time, North Carolinians will have access to legal sports betting apps during March Madness. The state’s mobile sports betting launch comes at an exciting time for college basketball fans, especially those supporting teams in the Tar Heel State.

The University of North Carolina’s men’s basketball team earned a No. 1 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, and the Tar Heels are considered a legitimate national title threat.

Duke is a No. 4 seed in this year’s tournament, and the Blue Devils could be dangerous in the Big Dance given the NBA talent on their roster.

Meanwhile, No. 11 seed NC State also made the field, winning five games in five days to win the ACC Championship and secure an automatic berth into the field.

FanDuel lists UNC’s men’s team at +1700 to win the national championship, the fifth-shortest odds of any team in the field. The Tar Heels are +350 to win the West Region, with Arizona being the betting favorite at +230.

Taking UNC to win it all at FanDuel at +1700 is a respectable price, as the Tar Heels are +1300 to win the national championship at BetMGM, +1400 at bet365, and +1600 at DraftKings.

As for Duke, the Blue Devils can be found at +3000 at FanDuel. Duke is +650 to win the South Region and make the Final Four, and the Blue Devils are 11.5-point betting favorites in Friday’s game against Vermont.

NC State holds much longer title odds, understandably. The 11th-seeded Wolfpack can be found as high as +50000 at DraftKings to win the national title. NC State is even an underdog in its first-round game against Texas Tech, with the Wolfpack sitting as a 5.5-point underdog across most North Carolina betting apps.

On the women’s side, NC State has +5000 odds to win the national title at FanDuel, the 10th-shortest odds of any team in the field.

Five ACC teams made the NCAA Tournament, with Virginia playing Tuesday night in the First Four. The Cavaliers are short underdogs against Colorado State. The three North Carolina schools mentioned above also made the field, and Clemson rounds out the ACC programs in this year’s event.

Wake Forest and Pitt narrowly missed out on qualifying for the tournament.

DraftKings offers a few ACC specials, which could intrigue fans who believe the conference will shine in March. ACC teams to win more than 6.5 games in the tournament combined, including Virginia’s game against Colorado State, has odds of +140.

The ACC holds +2000 odds to win the most games of any conference, as the Big 12 (-150) has the shortest odds of any conference to win the most NCAA Tournament games.

Duke and UNC fans can even place a bet directly against their rivals, with DraftKings offering odds on which of the two teams will advance deeper into the tournament. North Carolina is listed at -200 to advance deeper into the tournament, while Duke comes in at +170.
