Long after smoking was banned in public places, Rhode Island’s two casinos still let gamblers light up. But workers in those venues say the smoke is hurting their health.

The push to put an end to smoking in Bally’s casinos in Lincoln and Tiverton is being felt at the State House.

Rep. Teresa Tanzi was joined by casino workers and their unions last week, and two weeks prior, to advocate for smoke-free casinos.

“Imagine what that’s like, night after night, having to go home with cigarette smell in your hair, having to shower before you even got into bed,” said Tanzi with an ashtray as an example.
