Nelly Korda Shortest U.S. Open Betting Favorite Since Tiger Woods

Before Nelly Korda hits a shot in this year’s U.S. Women’s Open, she’ll still be talked about in the same breath as Tiger Woods, at least in sports betting circles.

Korda enters the U.S. Women’s Open as a +300 betting favorite on Caesars Sportsbook, giving her the shortest pre-tournament betting odds of any golfer (male or female) entering the U.S. Open since Tiger Woods was a +175 favorite at the 2009 U.S. Open, according to data from GolfOdds.com, Tour-Tips.com, and Sports Handle research.

Woods finished sixth in the 2009 tournament.

Korda’s short odds come as no surprise, as she’s been on a hot streak that makes even Scottie Scheffler envious. Korda has won six of her last seven events, with a top-10 finish in the lone event she didn’t win during that stretch.

Korda won the Chevron Championship during her run, the first women’s major championship of the year.

Given Korda’s consistent play, she’s an overwhelming favorite this week at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. Korda holds +325 odds on SuperBook Sports, far and away the shortest of any player in the field. Rose Zhang, a winner earlier this year, holds +2000 odds. Atthaya Thitikul also holds +2000 odds on the sports betting app.

For comparison, Scheffler is the heavy betting favorite for this year’s men’s U.S. Open. Scheffler is listed as a +450 favorite to win the tournament.

While Korda is the only women’s golfer with odds shorter than +2000 to win the U.S. Open on SuperBook Sports, Scheffler headlines a group of five men with odds shorter than +2000. Three women hold +2000 or shorter odds on SuperBook to win the U.S. Open, while nine men are listed with +2000 or shorter odds.

The gap between Korda and the rest of the field is massive, given her recent dominance.

Other betting apps, like FanDuel, offer similar odds for this year’s tournament. Korda is listed at +350 to win the U.S. Open on FanDuel, with Zhang holding the second-shortest odds at +1600.

Lexi Thompson, who announced plans to retire following this season, holds +11000 odds on FanDuel to win the championship. Despite being just 29 years old, Thompson will appear in her 18th U.S. Women’s Open this week.
