The Missouri Gaming Commission has reported that the state’s 13 casinos generated $154.7 million in adjusted gross revenue in June, a 0.2 percent decline compared to the $150 million reported in June 2023.

June’s results take the operators’ year-to-date AGR to $1.89 billion, down 1.5 percent year-on-year.

The three leading casinos came from the St. Louis market, including Ameristar SC, which led with $24.8 million in AGR, River City Casino with $20.9 million and Hollywood Casino with $20.7 million. With Horseshoe St. Louis’ figures added, the St. Louis market totals $77.4 million.

The Kansas City market generated $54.2 million in AGR, while out-state casinos, including Isle of Capri Boonville Casino on the Missouri River and Century Casino Cape in Cape Girardeau, collected the remaining $23.1 million.

Missouri’s riverboat casinos are subject to a 21 percent gaming tax. In June, $29.2 million went to education, while the Missouri Government received the remaining $3.3 million. In addition, bettors must pay a $2 admission fee per excursion, which goes toward the state. This resulted in around $4.6 million collected in June, down 1.2 percent year over year.

Although still known as “riverboat casinos,” Senate Bill SB 26 passed in 2021 allowing casinos in the state to become “non-floating facilities,” constructed with a tank of 2,000 gallons of water underneath or inside the structure.

Two sports betting bills, SB 824 and SB 852, have been filed in the state in 2024. A recent poll by Emerson College revealed that 38.3 percent of Missouri voters would back sports betting if it were on the ballot this fall.
